Settings and preferences

Your account settings sit behind your avatar in the top bar, under Settings. Most of it you set once and forget.

Profile​

Settings → Profile shows your email, your username and your name. Only the first and last name can be changed. Email and username are fixed. The username is part of your Obacht address (<app>.<username>.obacht.space), so it stays as it is.

Preferences​

Settings → Preferences has three switches:

  • Mode: Easy ("Streamlined hosting flow. Recommended.") or Advanced ("All tabs and raw template installs."). The same switch is in the avatar menu. What changes between the two is on Easy and advanced mode.
  • Enable notifications: your browser shows a notification when an install finishes. Your browser will ask for permission the first time.
  • Enable background push: notifications even when the Obacht tab is closed. If you see "Background push is not configured on this server", the server you use does not offer it yet. Leave the switch off.

If switching the mode fails you see "Could not switch mode". Reload and try again.

Language​

Open the avatar menu and pick English or Deutsch. The choice applies to the webapp; the docs are English only.

Cookies​

The banner at first visit asks about analytics cookies. Signing in works either way.
