Security

Your password and your device key are managed from Settings → Security.

Change your password

Enter your current password and a new one with at least 8 characters. If your session is older, Obacht emails you a code first and asks for it in the field Code from the email.

Forgot the current one? Click Send reset email and follow the link.

Sign out everywhere

Sign out everywhere ends every session on your account, in every browser and every Mac app. Use it after signing in on a shared computer.

Your devices are not removed. A Raspberry Pi or Linux PC keeps hosting as before, it does not use your session.

A Mac keeps serving what is running, but the Mac app is signed out too. The next time hosting has to start again (the app restarts, you resume after Pause, the Mac reboots) it waits for you: "Your sign-in ran out, so hosting cannot start". Open the Mac app and sign in through the browser, then it carries on.

Your device key

The device key (an SSH key pair) signs installs, address changes and terminal sessions. The page SSH keys, linked from Security, lists your keys:

  • The key marked Default is the one your devices trust.
  • Show public key displays the public half, with a copy button. The SHA256 fingerprint is what you compare on the Mac app's trust screen.
  • Delete key removes a key from your account.

The passphrase cannot be reset. Lose it and you generate a new key here and pin it on every device again, see Your device key.

warning

Delete a key only after a new key is pinned on all your devices. Otherwise you lock yourself out of changing them.

Next: Your data.
